While serving as a medic for the United States Air Force in Alaska, Brittney Lovitt wasn’t sure where she’d be in a year. She was certain, however, that she wanted to become a doctor and needed an online, flexible bachelor’s program to help her get there.
“I wanted a program that met the prerequisites for medical school and found Logan University’s bachelor’s programs among the top-rated recommendations,” Brittney said. “I liked that the classes were geared towards healthcare.”
She enrolled in Logan’s online Bachelor of Science in Human Biology program in 2020, completing courses while living in Alaska and South Korea, and graduating while living in Washington.
“There were definitely times when it was tough juggling everything, but the professors were so understanding and accommodating,” she said. “It was convenient that I could continue my education throughout it all.”
Despite her busy life, Brittney helped start Logan’s Pre-Health Club, a virtual club that connects students with others who are interested in similar careers in the healthcare industry.
“We hosted connection and networking events and often brought in guest speakers from different health fields,” Brittney said. “They’d share information on their careers, other professional development opportunities and answer any questions we had.”
Brittney earned her bachelor’s degree in 2022 and recently began Logan’s online Master of Science in Nutrition and Human Performance (MSNHP) program.
“I’m really interested in nutrition and wanted a deeper knowledge,” she said. “I think it’s overlooked area in the medical field, and it’s incredibly beneficial for my future patients.”
Now, Brittney is preparing to move from Pennsylvania to Belleville, Illinois with her husband—another graduate of Logan’s bachelor’s program—as he begins Logan’s Doctor of Chiropractic program in the fall.
“If everything lines up, I’ll be able to start medical school as soon as I finish the MSNHP program. I’m ready to get started, thanks in part to my education at Logan.”
