About Our Speaker

Stephen Nickell, EdD, LAT, ATC is Logan’s Sports and Exercise Science Department Chair and Master’s in Athletic Training Program Director. Prior to Logan, Dr. Nickell served as the athletic training program director at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and as the program director of athletic training and sports science for Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio. Earlier in his career, he was a clinical athletic trainer for a school district in his home state of Ohio.

Dr. Nickell is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a site visitor for the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Ohio University in 1999, his master’s degree from Rider University in New Jersey in 2001 and his Doctorate of Education at the University of Missouri in 2017.
