Join three Doctors of Chiropractic as they discuss their pathways to careers in pediatric chiropractic and how they are helping educate the next generation of leaders in this growing field. Drs. Elise Hewitt, Jenny Brocker and Allison Harvey share their backgrounds, experiences and insight into the field of pediatric chiropractic and answer questions from attendees in this virtual panel discussion.

Panelists

Elise Hewitt, DC, DICCP, FICC

Dr. Hewitt is the program founder of Logan University’s Master of Science in Integrative Pediatrics. She is a board-certified pediatric Doctor of Chiropractic and one of the foremost authorities in the specialty of chiropractic pediatrics. Dr. Hewitt has spent more than 30 years advocating for the chiropractic care of children and served as president of the ACA Pediatrics Council for 10 years.

In addition to treating children in her pediatrics-only practice in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Hewitt is a member of the prestigious NCMIC Speakers Bureau for which she teaches all aspects of pediatric practice. She serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine (JCM) and is a peer reviewer for several science journals.

Dr. Hewitt was honored to be named 2019 Pediatric Chiropractic of the Year by the ACA Pediatrics Council. In 2017, she received the Rising Star Award from the American Public Health Association’s (APHA) Chiropractic Health Care Section, and was named Oregon’s 2016 Chiropractor of the Year. In 2008, Dr. Hewitt was elected as a Fellow into the International College of Chiropractors (FICC).

Jenny Brocker, DC, DICCP

Dr. Brocker is president of the American Chiropractic Association’s Pediatrics Council and in practice at the Portland Chiropractic Group in Portland, Oregon. Over the years, Dr. Brocker has sought advanced clinical training on various techniques and therapies related to pediatric chiropractic. She’s held the board-certified Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics (DICCP) for more than 10 years and earned the three-year board certification from the International College of Chiropractic Pediatrics.

Dr. Brocker is a strong advocate for working with other health care professionals to provide patients with the best and most complete care possible. She takes advantage of opportunities to educate her colleagues in the field and is a member of NCMIC’s speakers bureau.

At Logan, Dr. Brocker is creating the Pediatric Development and Pediatric Case Management 1 courses as well as the spinal portion of the Pediatric Technique course.

Allison Harvey, DC

Specializing in pediatric care, Allison Harvey, DC has been treating children since 2006 and is one of the only board-eligible Diplomates in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics (DICCP) in Missouri. In addition to serving as the senior clinician for the pediatric department at the Montgomery Health Center on Logan University’s campus, Dr. Harvey teaches pediatric courses to trimester 7 Doctor of Chiropractic students and oversees the very specialized, highly sought-after pediatrics rotation.

Dr. Harvey is certified in acupuncture and has attended multiple seminars and programs in her nearly two decades providing chiropractic care. She regularly speaks on chiropractic pediatric topics in local media and has facilitated in numerous workshops and webinars.
