Meet Our Panelist:

Dr. Angelita Howard 

Currently, Dr. Angelita Howard serves as Founding Assistant Dean for Online Education and Expanded Programs and an Assistant Professor at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), where she has been integral in the development and implementation of strategic plans in collaboration with academic staff for new and ongoing online program expansion. Her current research includes faculty teaching and learning, self-directed studies, adaptive leadership and engagement in biotechnology and health informatic industries workforce development.

Dr. Angelita Howard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Master’s degree in both Education Administration and Teaching. She then received a Doctorate degree in Education Administration, Master of Business Administration in Project Management, and more recently a Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics.

Angelita’s commitment to excellence in all that she does is inspiring and motivates all with whom she interacts to perform at their highest level, especially her students. Recently, the Master of Science in Biotechnology that she co-directs ranked #1 in the country and has led the startup of the Doctor of Health Administration at MSM.

She has proven to be an effective leader, organizing and implementing several small- and large-scale initiatives that engage teams of faculty and administrators. She is committed to helping faculty “teach the learners,” and helping organizations build effective programs through strategic initiatives and assessment.

Angelita has a sophomore daughter majoring in biology at The Tennessee State University. As the 2021 Woman of Year in STEAM Education, Angelita is equally committed to EQUITY, ACCESS, and IMPACT.

Dr. William Sobotor

Dr. William J. Sobotor joined Logan in 2015 as an Adjunct Instructor for the Doctor of Health Professions Education program.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Bloomsburg University and his PhD in Human Development from Syracuse University.

Previously, Dr. Sobotor served as a Staff Radiation Therapist at Geisinger Medical Center, Director of Clinical Education and professor at State University of New York, Chair of the Allied Health Division at Darton College, Dean of Allied Health at Baptist College of Health Sciences, and Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Baptist College of Health Sciences.

Dr. Sobotor has earned the Syracuse University President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and a certificate in Gerontology.

Dr. Michael Furtado

Michael Furtado is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in pre-physical therapy and Master of Science in physical therapy in 2006. He later earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Boston University while he was a practicing physical therapist. He recently graduated with a Doctorate of Education in Health Professions from AT Still University. In his early career, Michael worked as a staff physical therapist for TIRR Memorial Hermann Outpatient Rehabilitation in Houston, Texas, serving in leadership positions such as the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education and Senior Physical Therapist, creating vestibular and balance programs in sports concussion and military veterans. Michael specializes in vestibular rehabilitation and in managing the recovery of amputees but is recognized for his expertise through the American Physical Therapy Association as a Board Certified Neurological Clinical Specialist, with experience treating all types of neurological injuries. Michael holds an Associate Professor position at another institution, where he serves as Admissions Chair and primary faculty for neuroscience and neurological clinical management courses. He is also the Program Director for a Hybrid track DPT program. He owns an outpatient private practice in Houston, called AMPT Rehab, where he performs clinical practice and research in patients with vestibular dysfunction and neurological deficits. Michael teaches entry level students and clinicians in the area of concussion and his portfolio of professional accolades includes various grant funded research projects, teaching and clinical awards, and authorship in peer reviewed journals or book chapters with disseminated numerous poster presentations and public speaking engagements at the local, state, and national level. He joined Logan University as an Adjunct Instructor in 2022, teaching Kinesiology.

Dr. Sarah Carter

Dr. Carter obtained her PhD in psychology from Northcentral University, and has been teaching in both online and face-to-face modalities for several years. Her main areas of teaching include statistics and research methods, although she teaches a variety of courses in psychology, including Introduction to Psychology, Theories of Personality, Social Psychology, History of Psychology, and Evolutionary Psychology. From a research perspective, her main interests involve online education and memory, with a particular focus on survival memory. She is proud to be part of Logan University, and values the opportunity to be involved in my students’ educational journeys.
