Deborah Marcello, DCN, RDN, CDN

Adjunct Faculty

Dr. Deborah Marcello is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and online faculty member in the Master of Nutrition and Human Performance program at Logan University, where she has been teaching since 2018. She currently serves as adjunct faculty instructor for the Nutrition Capstone course and has previously taught courses including Nutritional Science, Nutrition in Pain and Inflammation, and the Nutrition Internship.

Dr. Marcello brings over 19 years of clinical experience to her teaching and has been teaching in higher education for over 11 years. In addition to her role at Logan University, she is an Assistant Professor and Program Director of Graduate Nutrition Programs at Long Island University (LIU), where she oversees an ACEND-accredited future graduate program, manages curriculum development, and supports student clinical training and professional preparation.

Prior to her academic roles, Dr. Marcello held various clinical positions, including pediatric dietitian and clinical dietitian at Stony Brook’s Children’s Hospital and Allied Physicians Group. Her clinical expertise spans pediatric nutrition, chronic disease management, and medical nutrition therapy, which she integrates into her teaching to provide students with real-world, evidence-based perspectives.

Dr. Marcello earned her Doctor of Clinical Nutrition from Rutgers University, a Master of Science in Applied Nutrition from Sage Graduate School, and holds additional training in dietetics and culinary arts. She has been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist since 2007 and a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist in New York State since 2009.

She is actively engaged in professional leadership and currently serves as President-Elect of the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (NYSAND). She is also a long-standing member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and several of its practice groups. Dr. Marcello has received multiple recognitions for excellence in teaching, including the Logan University Outstanding Faculty Award. Her work focuses on preparing future nutrition professionals to critically evaluate nutrition information, apply evidence-based practice, and communicate effectively in an evolving health landscape.
