Courtney Sumners, MS, PA-C

Principal Faculty

Courtney Sumners, MS, PA-C is an Assistant Professor in the Physician Assistant Studies Program at Logan University. With more than a decade of experience in healthcare, she has held a wide range of clinical roles—from phlebotomist to medical scribe—before earning her credentials as a Physician Assistant.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from Missouri State University in 2015, where she also completed her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Since becoming a PA, Courtney has practiced in diverse and fast-paced environments including Emergency Medicine, General and Trauma Surgery, and Cardiothoracic Surgery.

At Logan University, Courtney brings a deep commitment to mentorship, clinical excellence, and lifelong learning. She is particularly passionate about anatomy, pathophysiology, surgical procedures, and cardiovascular health, and is dedicated to preparing the next generation of PAs with both skill and confidence.

Outside the classroom, Courtney is a proud mom to three daughters, two dogs, and one well-maintained sourdough starter. She enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, reading, and baking.
