Vitum Medical eating disorder clinic seeks a qualified Registered Dietitian for their specialized day and outpatient treatment program. Vitum is the premier specialized PHP/IOP eating disorder clinic in the LA/Southbay area focused on empowering recovery and restoring health to individuals and families suffering from eating disorders.  

Vitum delivers exceptional patient care through a multidisciplinary treatment team led by the specialized medical and therapeutic team and is seeking a motivated and qualified candidate who is willing to contribute to exceptional patient care, strong team cohesion, and dedicated recovery.

 

Job Description: 

Under the supervision of the attending MD, the Registered Dietitian: 

 

Work with patients to: 

  • Develop a healthy relationship with food.
  • Provide meal support for patients during snack and meal times. 
  • Dispute eating disordered thoughts with factual information, challenging food fears, and providing nutrition experientials. 
  • Develop lesson plans, lead nutritional groups, and provide updates to the multidisciplinary treatment team. 
  • Conduct nutritional assessments.

 

Work with the Multidisciplinary Treatment Team to: 

  • Supervise and implement meal service.
  • Ensure that kitchen complies with all guidelines and regulations associated with food safety and sanitation. 
  • Plan and implement strategy of care for each patients’ recovery success, through 1:1 nutritional counseling, goal-setting, and providing supportive accountability. 
  • Oversee and coordinate patient dietary care for patients with Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa. 
  • Create and edit menus to ensure that meals meet the nutritional needs of patients. 
  • Provide a variety of foods to help patients succeed in the process of recovery and relapse prevention.
  • Evaluate each patient’s individual progress toward attainment of outcomes while following the structure of program with flexibility.
  • Ability to develop weekly menu, budget, shop, and prepare daily meals. 
  • Understanding and ability to adjust and modify menu based on individual, cultural, and caloric requirements.

Candidates must have, or be willing to develop:

  • Diabetic exchange system
  • Evidence-based treatment and individualization
  • Strong therapeutic nutritional skills
  • Eating disorders symptomology and etiology
  • Work cohesively as part of a therapeutic treatment team
  • Strong understanding of the patient population, their needs, appropriate boundaries, and the healthy contribution the RD has in the individuals’ recovery 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree from an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics w/ accredited program.
  • National certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Maintain CEU’s as required for certification renewals. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Rotation/dietetic internship in a mental health setting
  • Desire to work within eating disorder population
