Andrea Applegate, MSPAS, PA-C, DFAPPA

Associate Professor / Principal Faculty

Andrea D. Applegate, MSPAS, PA-C, has been a practicing PA for 15 years. She earned three undergraduate degrees in Chemistry, Biology, and Science and Christian faith from Southwest Baptist University in 2006, followed by a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Missouri State University in 2010.

After graduation, she began her clinical career in internal medicine but quickly found her passion in cardiology. Over the years, she expanded her practice experience to include emergency medicine, urgent care, critical care, and cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.

In 2018, Andrea rejoined her alma mater as an assistant professor, eventually earning tenure and advancing to associate professor. She served as the Director of Assessment from 2019 to 2024. In 2024, she became one of the founding principal faculty members at Logan University to help establish the Physician Assistant program. She is also a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Associates.

Andrea serves the PA profession at the state and national levels. She is the Treasurer and CME co-Chair of the Missouri Academy of PAs (MOAPA). Additionally, she was elected as the Chief Delegate for Missouri in the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) House of Delegates. Since 2023, she has also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), striving to be a voice for children going through difficult situations.
