Patrick Montgomery, DC, MS, FASA

Dr. D. Patrick Montgomery is a January, 1976 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and the Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He completed Logan University’s Master of Science in Nutrition and Human Performance, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Valedictorian He completed the Master’s Course in the Conservative Treatment of Scoliosis, through the Italian Scientific Spine Institute of Milan, Italy. He is a full Professor of Chiropractic History, Philosophy and Technique at Logan University. He teaches and has taught Logan Basic Technique, Chiropractic History, Chiropractic Philosophy, Conservative Management of Scoliosis, Diversified Technique, Athletic Injuries, and Clinical Nutrition. At Logan University, Dr. Montgomery serves in the Chiropractic Science Division, Clinical Science Division, Undergraduate Division, and is a supervising clinician for the Montgomery Health Center of Logan, and special events. Dr. Montgomery served as President of the Logan Faculty Senate from 2006-2009 and from 2016-2019. He has been in private practice, either full time or part time since graduating. He joined the faculty at Palmer College of Chiropractic-West (PCCW) in 1981 and served as Chair of the Chiropractic Philosophy and Practice Department until 1984. He taught part time at PCCW until 1989. Among the courses he taught at PCCW were: Chiropractic History, Physical and Clinical Diagnosis, Case Management, Diversified Technique and served in the outpatient clinic, serving as a supervising clinician and reading all x-ray films. He has been a lecturer in the Post-Graduate Division of Palmer-West, Life Chiropractic-West and Logan University, lecturing on Logan Basic Technique, Chiropractic Pediatrics, and Chiropractic Philosophy. He has lectured for continuing education seminars nationally in Boundary Training, Logan Basic Technique, Chiropractic History, Chiropractic Spinal Pre-Natal Care, Pediatric Chiropractic, and Physical Diagnosis. He is an adjunct Professor at D’Youville University, teaching Chiropractic History.

In 1984, he chaired the First Conference on Current Topics in Chiropractic: Reviews of the Literature, hosted by Palmer-West. He has written numerous chiropractic historical papers that have been published in Chiropractic History – The Journal of the Association for the History of Chiropractic and Chiropractic Journal of Australia. He has published research studies of Logan Basic Technique in the Journal of Chiropractic Education. He served as President of the Faculty American Chiropractic Association (FACA) from 2016 -2019 and currently serves as Secretary of FACA. He serves on the Academic Advisory Board of the Academy of Family Chiropractic. Dr. Montgomery has also served as President of the Santa Clara County Chiropractic Society and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the California Chiropractic Association. He also has served as President of District 1 of the Missouri State Chiropractors Association, President of the Missouri State Chiropractors Association. He is the Past President of the Association for the History of Chiropractic as well as a manuscript reviewer for Chiropractic History. He is a contributing author to the textbook, Pediatric Chiropractic, 2nd Edition, by Anrig and Plaugher and to the Conservative Management of Sports Injuries, 2nd Edition, by Hyde and Gengenbach. He is the Editor of the text: The History of Sports Chiropractic, by Dr. Stephen Press. He currently is the Editor of the Faculty News, the newsletter of FACA, and the AHC Bulletin, the newsletter of the Association for the History of Chiropractic.

He was a member of the Sports Medicine Network of United States Swimming from 1086-2003, and is currently a member the Missouri Chiropractic Physicians’ Association, the American Chiropractic Association and the ACA Council on Pediatrics. ACA Council on Nutrition, ACA Council on Women’s Health, and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. He was a founding member of the Chi Rho Sigma Chiropractic Professional Fraternity, Beta Chapter (1975) and is a member and faculty advisor to the Pi Kappa Chi Chiropractic Professional Fraternity. Dr. Montgomery was named a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) by the State of California in 1996. He received the Distinguished Service Award from Council on Technique from the American Chiropractic Association in 1982 and the Distinguished Service Award from the Logan College Alumni Association in 2012. In 2017, he was named Educator of the Year by the Missouri Chiropractic Physicians’ Association. Also, in 2017, he was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors.
