Melinda Boyd, DCN, MPH, MHR, RD

Dr. Melinda Boyd completed two undergraduate degrees: Muhlenberg College (BS in Biology) Cedar Crest College (BS in Nutrition) before completing her dietetic internship with Sodexho (Mid-Atlantic). She is a registered dietitian (RD) in both the US and UK. She holds graduate degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (MPH) and the University of Oklahoma (MHR). She has also completed a doctorate of clinical nutrition (DCN) from Rutgers University. She completed her advanced level training for the program in the areas of gastrointestinal disorders and women’s health, emphasizing on PCOS. In addition to teaching at Logan University, she has a decade of experience online teaching, serving as an undergraduate professor with Purdue University Global and the University of Maryland Global Campus online.

Dr. Boyd has worked as a dietitian in a variety of areas, covering adult and pediatric nutrition. Her specialty practice areas include weight management, diabetes, vegetarian nutrition, and women’s health. Additional areas of research include the research interest and involvement of registered dietitians. She is a nationally recognized speaker on the topic of culturally appropriate patient care. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an active member in her local affiliates, the International Affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (IAAND) and the South Carolina Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (SCAND), as well as the Cultures of Gender and Age Member Interest Group (COGA MIG). She currently serves as the SCAND State Policy Representative-Elect and the Chair of the COGA MIG. She has recently completed serving a two-year term on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics IDEA Committee.
