Core Accounts and Systems

Logan Email

All current students, faculty, and staff receive a Logan email account. Official Logan communication — including messages from Student Affairs, Financial Aid, and the Registrar — comes through this account, so check it regularly.

To sign in, use:

  • Your email address as the username (firstname.lastname@logan.edu)
  • Your current password

Canvas

Canvas is Logan's cloud-based learning management system, delivering course materials, resources, and media-rich content online. Every course site is password-protected, so only the instructor and registered students have access. Canvas includes a secure gradebook, discussion forums, messaging, and SpeedGrader for posting and grading assignments. Contact Academic Technology at AcademicTechnology@logan.edu for help with course access or functionality.

Logan's Emergency Notification System

This system sends alerts about campus emergencies and weather-related closings only — no advertising, and your contact information is never shared or sold. Incoming students are automatically enrolled for email alerts at their Logan address. Any student can log in to add text, phone, or additional email alerts and manage preferences using their Logan email address and password.

OneDrive - FAQ

What is OneDrive useful for?
OneDrive lets you access your data from anywhere with an internet connection, across devices, with 1TB of storage per user and real-time collaboration.

Sign in at outlook.com/logan.edu with your Logan email address and password, then click Apps and select OneDrive. The first login may take a few minutes to set up.
Can I put sensitive data on OneDrive?
OneDrive is an off-premise cloud solution — files are stored in a data center off campus. The University has a signed Business Associates Agreement (BAA) with Microsoft, but you should still be cautious with sensitive data. If you must share sensitive data, talk to your supervisor and turn on auditing, or use your network drive instead.
How do I turn on auditing?
Go to the gear icon (upper right) and select Site Settings. Under Site Collection Administration, choose Site Collection Audit Settings and select the items to audit — ITS recommends checking all boxes under "Documents and Items" and "Lists, Libraries, and Sites."

After logging into OneDrive, select "New," then "Folder."
How do I upload a file?
Click the Apps button, select OneDrive, and drag and drop files into the specified area, or click "Upload" and browse for files.
How do I share a file or folder?
Click the three dots next to the file or folder name (or the lock symbol) and select "Invite Others" or "Share." Type the recipient's last name and select them from the directory. You can only share with other Logan students, faculty, and staff.
How do I tell who I have shared a document with?
Highlight the file name and select the group symbol (three users), or click the three dots next to the file name to open the "Share with" section.
Can OneDrive do real-time online collaboration?
Yes. Open a shared document with another user signed in, and edits appear in real time.
Can I create a new document in the browser?
Yes — select "New" in OneDrive and choose the type of document (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote) to create it directly in your browser.
What happens when I delete a file? Can I get it back?
Deleted files move to the OneDrive recycle bin, where they can typically be restored for a limited time before permanent deletion.
What apps are there for OneDrive?
OneDrive apps are available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices, letting you access and sync files from your phone, tablet, or computer.
