This page explains how our work is reviewed, how researchers are trained, and how you can take part.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
The Logan University IRB reviews every project involving human subjects, whether it runs on campus or through a collaborative network. Each protocol is examined against federal regulations and Logan's own ethical standards before recruitment begins, so participants know what they are agreeing to and investigators know their findings will stand up to scrutiny.
CITI Program Training
Logan researchers complete training through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program). The coursework covers human-subjects protection, responsible conduct of research and data integrity, and it is required before a study team joins an active protocol.
Joseph W. Howe Oration in Diagnostic Imaging
The annual Howe Oration honors Dr. Joseph W. Howe, a Logan educator and radiologist, by bringing a national figure in imaging or pain science to campus. The lecture is open in person and by live stream, and attendees can earn one hour of free continuing education.
Scholarship Pins
Scholarship Pins recognize faculty who publish and present in peer-reviewed venues.
- Blue: first peer-reviewed paper or abstract.
- Bronze: five peer-reviewed works.
- Silver: ten peer-reviewed works, including at least one journal publication.
- Gold: twenty-five peer-reviewed works, including at least five journal publications.
Ways to Participate
- Students: join a faculty study team, start with a case report, or present at a regional conference.
- Faculty and staff: submit a protocol to the IRB and complete CITI training before enrollment opens.
- Community members and patients: volunteer for a study recruiting through our health centers.
