Fourth Consecutive Logan Student Elected SABCA Regional Representative

Renee Gentle, trimester 7 student from Houston, Texas has been elected Central Regional Representative of the Student American Black Chiropractic Association (SABCA). Renee is Secretary of Logan’s SABCA chapter and the fourth consecutive Logan student to be elected to the regional position. She follows Logan students Kayla Dozier, Antoine Wright and Logan alum, Chohnice Daniels DC, MS, CCA.

The central region represents six schools including Cleveland University, National University of Health Sciences, Northwestern Health Sciences University College of Chiropractic, Palmer College of Chiropractic, Parker University College of Chiropractic, Texas Chiropractic College and Logan University.

“I’m excited to be able to keep students and doctors connected throughout our region,” Renee said. “It’s important to make chiropractic a better profession for black students, and I can be that line of communication between students and doctors.”

Normally, SABCA elections are held during the national convention every year in June. This year, due to COVID-19, elections took place virtually. Renee submitted a video campaign explaining her platform to the organization and its voting members.

“I tried to tell myself that you’re not growing as a person or learning if you choose to stay comfortable,” Renee said. “I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to run on a platform that I’m passionate about.”

Renee’s term will end at the 2021 convention, and she looks forward to using the year ahead to achieve her short and long-term goals.

“Now I have the ability to advocate with students at each school in the region and encourage black students to achieve their goals at their respective schools,” Renee said.
