As an Advancement Coordinator, Melissa Hoener works in a variety of roles including coordinating the scholarship luncheon and benefactors dinner during the annual Spring Symposium, communicating with donors and students on gifts and scholarships, managing various databases and processing donor gifts.
Melissa graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and then went on to receive her Master of Science in Education from Fullerton University.
Before joining Logan in December 2019, Melissa worked as a development coordinator for the St. Louis nonprofit Friends of the Rainforest. A visit to the rainforest in Costa Rica, coupled with her passion for helping preserve the environment, led to her work with the organization, and she continues to support its mission as a board member. Prior to working for Friends of the Rainforest, Melissa taught biology and anatomy for over 10 years at the high school and community college levels. During her time teaching, Melissa earned the California Teachers Credential and the Missouri Lifetime Teachers Certificate. She is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
