This weekend Dr. Ty Talcott and Dr. Howard Levinson present The Compliance Seminar. This is a total compliance presentation with two outstanding experts. On Saturday Dr. Ty Talcott presents information to help simplify the implementation and maintenance of an appropriate HIPAA and OIG compliance program, with their extensive list of required and addressable standards, in the typical chiropractic or multidisciplinary clinic, so that the option exists for the doctor to delegate and/or oversee the majority of this process and/ or participate whatever level is desired. Help prepare doctors to avoid being ravaged by Medicare demands to return money paid to them by Medicare in the wake of the OIG report listing chiropractors as the number one profession for Medicare fraud and that 82% of all claims paid to them should be repaid to the government. Topics discussed in Dr. Talcott’s presentation include review of newest regulatory threats to chiropractic practice; review of the latest Office of the Inspector General audits directed specifically at chiropractors; building a HIPAA manual; the new requirements relative to the notice of “patient privacy policy” and signed acknowledgment; creating a required audit schedule; how to perform the required risk analysis, and much much more. Ty Talcott, DC, CHPSE is a 1970 a graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic. He is a Certified HIPAA Privacy and Security Expert (CHPSE) who has presented seminars on HIPAA and Medicare regulatory compliance all over the country. Dr. Talcott is a much sought after speaker and a recognized expert in compliance for doctors of chiropractic. On Sunday Dr. Howard Levinson discusses Promoting Appropriate Patient Management and includes Healthcare Fraud, Waste, Abuse, Ethics and Boundaries. The topics in Dr. Levinson’s presentation include issues in chiropractic management of musculoskeletal conditions, electronic health records, Medicare issues, coding and documentation, ethics and boundaries (which includes a review of behaviors related to Sexual Misconduct as required by the Illinois board), and ethical violators– fraud waste and abuse. He also provides case presentation of fraudsters. Howard Levinson, DC, CFE, AHFI, DAPFP is a 1984 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Examiners, a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Professionals, a Certified Fraud Examiner, an Accredited Healthcare Fraud Investigator and a Certified Professional Coder. Dr. Levinson functions as a resource and subject matter expert to the investigative staff of the Special Investigative Units at national insurance carriers relative to chiropractic care, physical therapy and pain management. Dr. Levinson is a member of the Logistics Section of the Midwest Medical Assistance Team, a division of DHHS. He has been deployed to most of the major national disasters since 9-11-2011.
