Working with Athletes – Professionals and Amateurs
Instructors:  Ralph Filson, DC;  Alex Vidan,DC and G. Bradley Henderson, LAT, ATC

This is our last seminar of the year, and it is a Special Event Presentation! We are finishing up our year of postgraduate seminars with an outstanding 12-hour program featuring Dr. Ralph Filson, Dr. Alex Vidan, and Certified Athletic Trainer Brad Henderson. These three excellent practitioners and instructors get together to teach us how to work with athletes, whether they are elite professionals or amateurs. Drs. Filson and Vidan, and Brad Henderson not only talk-the-talk - they walk-the-walk. All three of them have worked in professional sports as doctors or trainers, and all of them see amateur athletes on a regular basis. This seminar is going to end the year in style because we’re going to the ballgame in December. It may not be baseball weather outside but inside, on the campus of Logan University we have hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks, door prizes, and three instructors who know sports and sports injuries and conditioning, especially baseball. Dr. Ralph Filson is a chiropractic legend. He was the longtime chiropractor for the St. Louis Cardinals and is the proud recipient of a National League Championship ring and two World Series rings. He was the team chiropractor for the St. Louis Rams in their two Super Bowl appearances. Dr. Filson is a 1969 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic, a member of the Logan faculty where he teaches Diversified Adjusting, and co-author of the textbook Spinal Biomechanics and Specific Adjusting. He maintains a very successful private practice of chiropractic in the St. Louis area. Dr. Alex Vidan is a 2004 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic and a very successful practicing chiropractor and invited lecturer to Logan College classes. Dr. Vidan worked with Dr. Filson as an official chiropractor to the St. Louis Cardinals where he also received a World Series ring. Dr. Vidan is also the official chiropractor for the St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders. G. Bradley Henderson is a 1985 graduate of the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Physical Education. He is Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and licensed in Missouri. Brad is currently at The Orthopedic Center of St. Louis where he is a Physician Extender for George A. Paletta, Jr. M.D. Brad was the Head Athletic Trainer for the Pittsburg Pirates and was the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an Athletic Trainer Intern with the St. Louis Football Cardinals. Here is what they will be teaching. The seminar kicks off with an introduction and overview and then Brad Henderson teaches the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder conditions from the perspective of a Professional Trainer. Brad has some cutting edge techniques and discusses individual goniometric measurements and instructs us on the Long Toss Throwing Program. Drs. Filson and Vidan then join in with discussion and description of thoracic spine biomechanics and shoulder conditions, and cervical spine biomechanics and shoulder conditions. They end Saturday with a hands-on workshop. On Sunday Drs. Filson and Vidan discuss lumbar spine biomechanics and shoulder conditions and then conduct another hands-on workshop. This is followed by two hours on “working with the pros” where the instructors talk about their personal experience in major league sports and what is expected to be part of the team. Photos and videos enhance this presentation. The seminar ends with continuing care and wellness tips to keep your athletes in tip-top condition, and a review of all of the material covered this weekend. This is going to be a great experience. So please join us on campus to talk sports, have some hot dogs and popcorn, win some door prizes, get great instruction and 12-hours of continuing education that meets the Missouri required topics for license renewal. What better way to spend a weekend in December. We hope to see you there.
