Why Logan?

Why Logan?

The essence is simple; Logan prepares individuals for the healthcare marketplace. Consumers want responsible healthcare providers. At Logan, students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to accept that responsibility. Logan graduates play a significant role as healthcare providers in any given community.

Selecting the right institution for your education is a life-altering decision. Your life and the lives of your future patients are affected by your choice. The Logan community takes your education seriously.

We believe Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs offers distinct educational advantages. We call these five areas – the Logan Advantage. These advantages can enhance our students’ educational experience. They prepare our students more effectively than other educational choices.

  1. Logan's Model of Health
  2. Logan's Educational Quality and Experience
  3. Business Preparation
  4. Facilities
  5. Value

Logan's Model of Health

Logan blends tradition and innovation. Since 1935, Logan has had a long, well-established reputation in the chiropractic profession. Logan was founded on chiropractic care providing the health consumer with a viable choice to traditional medicine.

Logan's model is a NON-DRUG, NON-INVASIVE form of care. It is based on the relationship between the structure and function of the human body. This includes the ability of the body to heal itself naturally given the right circumstances. Logan graduates recognize and embrace the fact that chiropractic care plays a significant role in managing this nation's $80 billion back pain epidemic. Logan students are trained as portal of entry – primary care chiropractic physicians, well-versed in differential diagnosis. This means Logan graduates assess and diagnose a patient's health status for appropriateness of chiropractic care, and balance the need for referral or co-management of the patient.

Logan's Educational Quality and Experience

Our institution is more than a collection of highly experienced faculty and the latest technology. We are a learning community dedicated to providing students clear direction for becoming great doctors of chiropractic.

Logan faculty utilize evidence-based presentations from current research and educational literature in combination with "smart room" technology to facilitate student learning. Classrooms comfortably adapt to small group discussion and hands on laboratory experiences throughout the Logan educational experience. We feature self-directed learning and on-line educational delivery methods.

At Logan, mission-critical is student success. Students have access to free tutoring and free national board review programs by NBS. These are just two of the many services offered by Logan for student success.

Innovative clinical education continues to be a hallmark of Logan College and University Programs. Logan enriches the student intern experience through four (4) fee for service health centers, two (2) Biofreeze Sports Science and Rehabilitation Centers, three (3) charitable community service clinics, rotations with the Department of Veteran Affairs including patient treatment at the Jefferson Barracks facility. Logan also provides opportunities for its interns with clinical rotations at Scott Air Force Base integrative clinic, Community Based Internships (CBI), hospital rotations and weekly opportunities to examine and treat NCAA- Division One scholarship athletes. Logan has recently established a human performance center referred to as a “Bumps and Bruise’s Clinic” in one of the largest public school districts in North St. Louis County. This is another example of our commitment to community service.

Everyone at Logan is an advocate of the continuous improvement process, whether it is the basic sciences, the chiropractic technique labs, providing patient care, or utilizing and developing clinical skills in the state-of-the-art assessment center. We are continually striving to create the best learning environment possible – all under the educational umbrella of continuous education accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission of North Central and the Council on Chiropractic Education.

Business Preparation

Logan trains and educates successful doctors of chiropractic. This requires more than just good clinical skills. It also requires good business skills.

Our professional development curriculum exposes students to the necessary skills and knowledge for the successful operation and management of a chiropractic business/practice. We have an innovative curriculum that covers personal development management, financial management both personally and professionally and applies various business models for the successful chiropractic practice.

Logan’s professional development curriculum utilizes successful, experienced doctors, and highly skilled business individuals, such as a faculty member from the Small Business Association (SBA), teaching the capstone course for individual business plans. The culmination of business preparation is Logan’s Career Development Center, which is available to all students and alumni without cost.

Facilities

One visit to the Logan campus and you can appreciate why MSNBC called Logan "One of America’s Prettiest Campuses." Our 112-acre hilltop campus, contemporary classrooms and safe environment are unique to Logan. The Standard Process Student Center features "Charlie’s Grab n’ Go," as a place for a quick bite, great coffee, plug into email, study or watch the "big game." This is a great location to meet new friends or just relax.

Logan knows students need down time. The exercise equipment and weight-lifting area in a complex referred to as the Dr. William M. Harris Sports and Wellness Center meets that need. This area has a quarter mile walking-running track, outdoor basketball courts, lit tennis courts, sand volleyball area, and large soccer – softball space. The anchor is a covered pavilion which can seat 250 individuals.

The Learning Resources Center is our "learning nerve center." It contains the student computer laboratory, small group study areas including an anatomical "bone yard." Journals, traditional book stacks and technology access to world-wide literature and research materials support our student learning.

The Dr. William Purser Center houses our commencement exercises and is home to musical events, the St. Louis civic orchestra, community lectures and corporate events. It contains a 1,500 seat auditorium with a lobby that can hold 500 individuals for events. Truly, Logan offers campus facilities that are literally unparalled in the chiropractic profession. Logan’s newest addition is a three story educational wing featuring a state of the art, clinical assessment center.

Value

It is very difficult to ignore the cost of a professional education today. Logan’s tuition continues to be the best value in the chiropractic profession. In addition, Logan provides students with over $250,000 in scholarships annually.
