Logan Graduates 96 New Doctors of Chiropractic and 24 Master's Degree Students at its 169th Commencement

Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs held its 169th commencement for the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic on Saturday, December 22, 2012, in the William D. Purser, DC Center on the Logan campus in Chesterfield, Mo., a western suburb of St. Louis. The ceremony, which included the academic hooding of each graduate, honored 96 students with the conferral of the Doctor of Chiropractic degree by Logan President George A. Goodman, DC, FICC. Twenty students received their Master of Science Degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation, and four students received their Master of Science Degree in Nutrition and Human Performance degrees from Logan University Programs. The commencement speaker was Dr. Louis Sportelli, president of NCMIC, the nation’s largest provider of chiropractic malpractice insurance. John Gutweiler, PhD, professor in Logan’s Basic Science division, served as master of ceremonies.
Twelve Doctor of Chiropractic graduates were recognized with special academic honors. They included: valedictorian Kristen C. Walton and Noel T. Kite -- summa cum laude (3.88 GPA or better); Laura M. Buck, Jessie K. Clarke, Colby S. Johnson, Jordan C. Patterson and Trevor J. Peterson -- magna cum laude (3.74 GPA or better); and Cassandra J. Baar, Tyler B. Bryant, Scott D. Dunaway, Jana Gibson and Jennifer E. Nido -- cum laude (3.6 GPA or better). Graduating students honored for making the Dean’s List over nine consecutive trimesters included: Laura Buck, Jessie Clarke, Colby Johnson, Noel Kite, Jordan Patterson, Trevor Peterson and Kristen Walton. Seventeen Doctor of Chiropractic graduates were selected for inclusion in the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. They are: Ryan T. Armetta, Cassandra Baar, Joshua L. Bradburn, Tyler Bryant, Laura Buck, Jessie Clarke, Scott Dunaway, Jana Gibson, Andrew J. Hall, Colby Johnson, Noel Kite, Jennifer Nudo, Roy C. Page III, Jordan Patterson, Trevor Peterson, Kristine Walton and Jeffrey G. Wieringa. Three Master of Science graduates also received Honors with Distinction for graduating with a GPA of 3.8 or better. They are: Stephen M. Casper, DC; Phillip A. Henady, DC; and Colby S. Johnson.
