Dr. Laney Nelson Named Sports Chiropractor of the Year by the American Board of Sports Physicians

Dr. Laney Nelson, director of the BIOFREEZE® Sports & Rehabilitation Center at Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs, was named Sports Chiropractor of the Year by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP). The award was announced during the ACBSP’s Chiropractic Sports Sciences Symposium held April 26-29 in Portland, Ore.

ACBSP Associate Director Jenny Schnell said the Chiropractor of the Year Award is the top award given by the organization. Those considered for the award must be ACBSP certified and active in the field of chiropractic sports. Candidates are nominated and voted by previous award winners.

“I feel very blessed to be recognized by a group whose sole purpose and mission is to elevate athletic performance,” said Dr. Nelson. “While it’s an honor for me, I must give credit to Logan for supporting my work and creativity that led to this award.”

Dr. George A. Goodman, DC, FICC, president of Logan College, said he is extraordinarily proud of Dr. Nelson’s accomplishments and the direction he has taken the Logan BIOFREEZE center.

Established in 1980, the ACBSP is comprised of more than 5,000 board-certified chiropractors. Its goal is to promote the highest standards of excellence and clinical competence for chiropractors specializing in sports medicine and physical fitness. Dr. Nelson will have the privilege of speaking at the 2013 Chiropractic Sports Sciences Symposium held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., to confer the award to the next recipient.

 “I think it goes without saying that this year’s award was very well deserved,” Schnell said. “This was the first time Dr. Nelson spoke at the symposium. He presented information on the topic of chiropractic management of concussion and those in attendance were blown away by his lecture.”
