Logan Tri 7 Students Receive Business Cards in Special Ceremony

When Logan students reach Trimester 7 and have successfully completed their comprehensive and clinical boards, they become eligible to enter their clinical phase, treating members of the student body and family members in the Logan Student Health Center. To mark this significant educational milestone, new Tri-7 students attended a special February 7 ceremony in the William D. Purser, DC Center on the Logan campus where they formally received their Logan clinic business cards.
At this Tri-7 Card Ceremony, each student was recognized individually by Professor Muriel Perillat, MS, DC, Logan’s Student Health Center director, and Associate Professor Ralph Barrale, DC, vice president of chiropractic affairs and postgraduate education, and awarded his or her business card to signify the beginning of their educational experiences as Logan interns. Logan President George A. Goodman, DC, FICC, delivered congratulatory remarks. Ms. Linda Kenny, MA, director of Logan’s career development center, served as mistress of ceremonies. |

In August 2011, after almost a year of development, Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs premiered its redesigned website as part of Phase One of a comprehensive integrated marketing campaign. As part of Phase Two of this campaign, Logan recently launched a mobile website geared toward first-time visitors, students and patients, allowing them easier access while on the go via their phones or tablet devices. Coolness under fire is a positive characteristic to exhibit in times of emergencies. That was certainly the case for Logan custodians Mike Vancil and Bernard Richardson on Saturday night, January 28, when an electrical fire started inside one of the laundry room dryers in the basement of Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs’ campus in Chesterfield, Mo. Vancil, who was first to discover the fire, quickly poured the contents of a fire extinguisher onto the flames and called 9-1-1 to reach the Monarch Fire Protection District. Richardson, who was working on campus in a nearby building, responded to his colleague’s alarm and provided assistance before firefighters arrived to secure the scene. Both Vancil and Richardson were honored for their "above-and-beyond-duty" at the recent meeting of the Logan Board of Trustees. Read More > |

Dr. William D. Purser, the largest donor in Logan College of Chiropractic/ University Programs’ history, turned 90 years of age on January 23, 2012. Logan President Dr. George A. Goodman and Dr. Elizabeth Goodman, dean of university programs, along with Patricia Jones, vice president of institutional advancement, traveled to Florida to celebrate Dr. Purser’s birthday with him. Professional Development Boot Camp at Logan is Friday, Feb. 3

Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs is sponsoring a Professional Development Boot Camp for Trimester 7, 8, and 9 students on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, from 8 to 11 a.m. in the William D. Purser, DC Center on the Chesterfield campus. The guest speaker will be Bill Esteb. His talk is entitled “The Patient’s Point of View” and will also include such associated topics as “Most Common New Practitioners Mistakes” and “Why Patients Do What They Do.”
“Bill Esteb is a prominent figure in the chiropractic profession and always delivers a positive message,” said Dr. Daryl Ridgeway, chair of Logan’s Chiropractic Science Division. |

Dr. Norman W. Kettner, professor and chair of the radiology department at Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs, reports that Logan’s Radiology Department has published original ultrasound research papers or case studies in four different ultrasound journals over a span of three years. Dr. Kettner believes that no other chiropractic institution has authored papers in the diagnostic ultrasound discipline. Read More > |
