Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs will hold its 166th commencement at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, in the William D. Purser, DC Center on the Logan campus. There are 117 graduates who are scheduled to receive their Doctor of Chiropractic degrees, while 18 students will be awarded their Master of Science Degrees in Sports Science and Rehabilitation. Logan President George A. Goodman, DC, FICC, and other college officials will lead the ceremony. The commencement speaker will be Dr. Terry Yochum, director of the Rocky Mountain Chiropractic Radiological Center in Denver, Colo., and an adjunct professor of radiology at Southern California University of Health Sciences. Logan Announces Several Promotions

Logan's Human Resources Department is pleased to announce several promotions. Vince McGee, head of Logan's Media Department, has been appointed associate vice president of educational technology and Dr. Nicholas Farha has been named associate dean of educational technology. Dr. Connie Hayes has been appointed the assistant director of the BIOFREEZE Sports & Rehabilitation Center and Eric Saller has been named data support specialist in the Logan Information Systems Department.

Logan's Dr. Dennis Enix Appointed to N.A.S.S. Committee

Dr. Dennis Enix, assistant professor in Logan's Research and Development division, recently received a letter of appointment from the North American Spine Society's (NASS) Board of Directors, to its Evidence-Based Guideline Development Committee. As part of the NASS Research Committee, his responsibilities will include guideline activities for development and revision of NASS guidelines and review of others' related guidelines. The appointment, which extends through October 2014, provides an opportunity for chiropractic to have a voice in the largest multidisciplinary medical spine society in the world. With more than 6,500 members, primarily orthopedic and neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, neurologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists and researchers, NASS is a leader in legislative and regulatory arenas related to spine care professionals and their patients. Dr. Enix is only the second chiropractic physician to serve on this 60-member committee.

Logan Announces Renovation of the Montgomery Health Center Facility on its Chesterfield Campus

George Goodman, DC, FICC, president of Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs, has announced that the school will begin renovation work of its Montgomery Health Center, located on the Logan campus at 1851 Schoettler Road in Chesterfield, Mo., later this month. As approved by Logan Board of Trustees, the almost $1.4 million project involves a floor-to-ceiling updating of the 13,000 square-foot health center, which was originally opened in March 1982, and the Logan Student Health Center as well as the establishment of the Foot Levelers, Inc. Clinic and some remodeling of the BIOFREEZE® Sports & Rehabilitation Center housed there. Read More >

Dr. Norman Kettner, professor and chair of Logan's Radiology Department, is one of the authors of a chapter on neuroplasticity in carpal tunnel syndrome that was recently published in the Journal of Pain Management. The authors also included Logan instructors Vitaly Napadow, PhD, and Yumi Maeda, PhD, both of whom are affiliated with the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, Department of Radiology, Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Patrick Montgomery, associate professor of chiropractic history, philosophy & technique, is an author of a chapter in the new textbook Pediatric Chiropractic, 2nd ed., by Drs. Claudia Anrig and Gregory Plaugher. The chapter is entitled “Logan Basic Technique for Infants, Children and Pregnant Women.” This book is considered the new authority in chiropractic pediatrics and is available through the Logan Matthews Bookstore.

Logan Wins Second Place Overall at the 2011 Chiro Games

The Logan team, comprised of 94 athletes, took second place overall at the recent Chiro Games in Florida. Over the past four years, Logan teams have won either first or second place overall in this annual competition among chiropractic colleges. This year, every Logan individual sport team placed in the tournament except two. In addition, three Logan student-athletes won individual awards; Alexandria Lizaribar (Women's 5K); Case Ruckman and David Bergmann (Golf).

George A. Goodman, D.C., F.I.C.C., president of Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs, has announced several personnel appointments in faculty and staff positions at the school. Lindsey R. Miller and Joshua J. Myers have been named admissions coordinators; Kimberley A. McMahon, MDA, RD, has been appointed a part-time instructor for nutrition and human performance in Logan's graduate division and for nutritional science in the doctor of chiropractic program; and Pamala A. Gurney, MS, LPTA, LMT has joined Logan's basic science division as a full-time laboratory instructor. Read More >
