Rosemary Walker, DDS, MBA, MS
Dr. Rosemary Walker completed her undergraduate studies at Albright College and her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland. She holds graduate degrees from National University, San Diego (MS - Education), Loyola College in Baltimore (MBA) and University of Illinois at Chicago (MS – Health Informatics). She holds certificates in system engineering, online teaching and leadership coaching.
Dr. Walker spent the early part of her career in general dentistry and served as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy. She received a certificate in periodontology from Oregon Health Sciences University and practiced periodontics in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. corridor for nine years. Her interest in working with students led her to clinical teaching appointments at schools of dentistry at Georgetown University, Howard University, University of Maryland and Marquette University.
Later turning her attention to health informatics, she completed a master of science degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Biomedical and Health Information Sciences. She then became a faculty member and ultimately a program director of the master of science in health informatics (MSHI) degree program. In 2006 and 2008, she received the Educator of the Year Award from the College of Applied Health Sciences.
She has an extensive background in graduate program development and/or administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Walden University, University of Tennessee Health Science Center and now Logan University’s College of Health Sciences. While at University of Illinois at Chicago, Dr. Walker led the accreditation process for the MSHI program. This was the first master-level health informatics/health information management program in the country to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
Dr. Walker has served as a commissioner, board member and reviewer for CAHIIM, and was a member of its first health informatics committee. She is a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), including the local Gateway Midwest Chapter; the American Medical Informatics Association and the American Health Information Management Association.
Dr. Walker joined Logan University in August 2015 to develop and direct the Master of Science in Health Informatics program.
