Points to Consider:

  • Financial aid is calculated for one trimester at a time.
  • Must be enrolled at least half time (6 credits) to receive financial aid.
  • Initially, students complete three applications in this process; the federal application (FAFSA), the Logan financial aid application and the electronic Stafford loan application (MPN).
  • Students must sign a financial aid award letter each trimester.
  • The Cost of Attendance is designed to meet the student’s direct expenses (tuition, fees, and books) and a reasonable portion of the student’s living expenses. Credit card debt, car payments and other discretionary expenses are not related to educational expenses, thus are not included in the student’s cost of attendance.
  • Per the Department of Education, living expenses of additional family members are not considered in the cost of attendance. Family members are taken into consideration when determining the family contribution through information provided on the FAFSA application.
  • Adjustments may be made per family for exceptional expenses such as unusually high medical expenses, dependant child care expenses, or additional expenses paid by handicapped students for educational needs. Adequate documentation is required.
  • After the financial aid file is complete, students will receive an award letter. Loans cannot be processed until the award letters are returned to the financial aid office and the electronic MPN is completed.
