Mozammil Hussain, PhD
Dr. Mozammil Hussain, Assistant Professor
Dr. Hussain received his Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from North Gujarat University, India, in 1998; Master of Engineering (Mechanical) from Panjab University, India, in 2004; Master of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, in 2002; and Doctorate in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2007. His doctoral research work at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Rush University Medical Center in Chicago focused on studying the initiation and progression of disc degeneration in the cervical spine. He has published original research articles in various peer-reviewed journals including
Spine,
The Spine Journal, and the
Medical Engineering & Physics, and also serves as a peer reviewer. He is also an active member of several national and international research societies. His research primarily involves understanding the inter-vertebral disc mechanobiology to repair (or regenerate) the discs’ health condition in various musculoskeletal spinal diseases, by studying the biomechanical and biochemical remodeling changes in spinal tissues from a healthy spine to a diseased one, and to one with interventions.
