About Dr. Zhang:

Dr. Zhang received his medical degree from the Third Military Medical University, Chong Qing in 1979. He practiced internal medicine in Norman Bethune International Peace Hospital and Hebei Medical College from 1980 – 1988. He received his Ph.D. from the Physiology Department, University of Hawaii in 1992. He completed two years of post-doctoral training at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Dr. Zhang is a Research Associate Professor now in his 11th year at Logan College. He is a peer-reviewer for the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, the Journal of Chiropractic Education, the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine and the American Chiropractic College Research Agenda Conference and holds active memberships in the North American Association for Laser Therapy, and the American Physiological Society.

Dr. Zhang’s research interests include outcome assessment of chiropractic care, nutrition, exercise and acupuncture on low back pain, head and neck pain and other musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Zhang is current conducting clinical trials utilizing electrophysiological diagnostic measurements including nerve conduction velocity, somato-sensory evoked potential and heart rate variability. His long term goal is to integrate the HRV analysis in clinical practice to validate different treatments and durations.
