Grant Amount, Payments and Continuing Eligibility

Grant Amount, Payments and Continuing Eligibility

The grant payments are made in accordance with the Council on Diagnostic Imaging's fiscal year, which extends from July 1 to June 30. The amount of a grant is set annually by the Council Executive Board of Directors and is divided into three pay periods. The payments for each period are made on July 15, November 15 and March 15.

Applications can be submitted at any time, but the deadline for each of the three grant periods is July 15, October 15 and February 15. The earlier an application is completed and accepted, the greater the total grant amount that may be garnered. Applications accepted prior to June 15, would qualify for 3 grant periods in the ensuing fiscal year. An application accepted prior to October 15 would qualify for two grant periods in that fiscal year, and an application accepted prior to February 15 would qualify for one remaining grant period in that fiscal year.

Once accepted, applicants can continue to maintain eligibility for the grant payments until the end of their training program. Reapplication is usually not required and the residents will receive notification of the current annual amount of the grant at the beginning of each fiscal year. An eligible resident whose training period ends at same time midway in a grant pay period will find the last or final payment prorated to reflect the date their training period ends. Continuing eligibility requires the submission of a satisfactory progress report from the college radiology department for each grant period. These progress reports are to be received by the Council office on or before June 15, October 15 and February 15. It is the responsibility of the resident receiving the grant to see that the reports are submitted by the department chairman or college administration.

Every resident receiving grant funds during all or part of a Council fiscal year is required to prepare manuscript(s) acceptable for publication in Topics in Diagnostic Radiology and Advanced Imaging, the quarterly publication of the Council, according to the following guidelines:

  • 2 case reports
  • 2 literature reviews
  • 2 technical reports
  • 2 pictorial essays or a combination totaling 2 papers Or
  • 1 original research paper

The deadline for submitting this paper(s) is June 15 and January 15. Failure to meet this deadline(s), without just cause, will result in a denial of grant funds through the ensuring fiscal year. It is recommended that each resident submit his or her paper(s) far enough before the deadline to provide time for the revision of any paper deemed unacceptable for publication.

A resident's continuing eligibility to receive grant funds is also dependent upon the resident meeting the examination eligibility requirements of the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology (ACBR). ACBR requirements are set independent of the Council's requirements and/or this Council's Executive Board of Directors. Information regarding those requirements can only be obtained from the Secretary of the ACBR. The Secretary of the ACBR will provide verification, to the Council Treasurer, of each resident status in meeting the ACBR requirements prior to each grant pay period.
