Logan College offers undergraduate courses which allow students to finish prerequisites required for the doctor of chiropractic program. The undergraduate offerings are regionally accredited through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Undergraduate Courses
Students have more options when choosing where to go to complete their undergraduate requirements for the Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) Program or other Health degrees. The Undergraduate Program at Logan College offers students the opportunity to complete the necessary coursework in a variety of formats including accelerated, evening and independent study classes.
MATHEMATICS
UG06120_02 College Algebra 3 Cr.
Algebraic concepts, techniques, and applications including polynomial and rational expressions, linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, absolute value, functions and graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations and inequalities.
UG06110_02 Contemporary Math 3 Cr.
A survey course intended to investigate a variety of mathematical concepts and how they relate to problem solving in the everyday world. Topics include numbers and fractions, the basics of algebra, business math, geometry, graphing, word problems, and probability and statistics.
UG06110_02 Statistics 3 Cr.
Survey of basic statistical methods, including descriptive statistics, introductory probability theory, correlation and regression analysis, and introductory inferential statistical methods of estimation and hypothesis testing. Prerequisite: College Algebra.
COMMUNICATIONS
UG-1101_02 Introduction to Public Speaking 3 Cr.
A practical approach to the theory and practice of public speaking. There is emphasis on training in thought processes necessary to organize speech content, analysis of components of effective delivery, and language.
UG01301_02 Advanced Public Speaking 3 Cr.
Focus of the course is to explore and develop public speaking skills in three primary categories: persuasion, information and humor. Students will prepare and deliver a series of addresses emphasizing these primary characteristics. Prerequisite: Earned credits in Public Speaking.
SOCIAL SCIENCES
UG02310_02 History of Chiropractic 3 Cr.
Traces the evolution of chiropractic from its beginnings to its current worldwide presence. Emphasis is given to intellectual and institutional growth as well as the individuals responsible for the initial development and later acceptance of chiropractic.
UG05101_02 General Psychology 3 Cr.
An introduction to the study of human behavior. Topics include learning, intelligence, memory, emotion, and personality. Students will also learn about psychological research methods.
UG05301_02 Psychology of Aging 3 Cr.
A study of the intellectual, personality, and social development of the individual from young adulthood through old age. Topics include adult issues in biological development, family dynamics, work, leisure, retirement, death, and bereavement. Prerequisite: Earned credits in Psychology.
UG05401_02 Mind/Body Psychology 3 Cr.
This three hour independent study course is designed to provide the student with basic knowledge on the history, philosophy, theories research, and practices of mind/body psychology in the context of a complimentary/alternative health care paradigm. Prerequisite: Earned credits in Psychology.
UG01310_02 Advanced Business Marketing 3 Cr.
A summary of marketing principles in business and society. Marketing in economic systems and society. External influences on marketing objectives, outcomes. Marketing as a functional area within organizations. Emphasis on product, pricing, place and promotion decisions and the application of these concepts to business situations. Prerequisite: Completion of English Composition

Development of comprehensive, non-personal, promotional campaigns to effectively communicate product offerings and organizational messages to target audiences. Prerequisite: Completion of Advanced Business Marketing or similar Marketing course
HUMANITIES
UG3101_02 Styles of Jazz 2 Cr.
The style of music called jazz is one of the gifts from the United States to the world. This music is the basis for much of the 20th century’s popular music, film scores, Broadway show scores, and to some ears formal (classical) music. The origins and development of the styles of jazz will be explored.
UG03310_02 Medical Ethics 3 Cr.
Moral problems confronting health care practitioners, patients, and the public concerned with medical treatment, research , and public health policy. Topics include abortion, living wills, euthanasia, genetic engineering, patient rights, human experimentation, and allocation of medical resources.
GENERAL ELECTIVES
UG1102_02 Medical Terminology 4 Cr.
This is a self-paced programmed approach to the learning of scientific/medical terminology. It is designed to acquaint the student with the scientific vocabulary encountered in the various division courses and to enable the learner to interpret and understand complex medical terms.
UG02420_02 Research Theory 3 Cr.
The general purpose of the course is to discuss the major issues in research design. The course will cover multiple research designs. The course will also cover the steps in the process of research. Prerequisite: Earned credits in Statistics.
UG08320_02 Fundamentals of Biomechanics 3 Cr.
An introductory course on the resolution of forces generated in the human body. Emphasis is on force resolution geometry, lever systems, strength of materials and clinical relevance. Prerequisite: College Algebraand a course in Physics.
UG09401_02 Senior Seminar 4 Cr.
Presentation of material researched by the student on a specific topic in human biology. Requires supervision by a faculty member.
SCIENCES
UG04101_02 Introduction to Biology 4 Cr.
Will introduce students with little or no background in science to basic scientific and mathematical principles. This course will prepare students for entry into General Physics I, General Chemistry I, and Human Biology I. Mathematical techniques required for scientific problem solving, including graphing, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations and inequalities will be covered. Introductory topics in Physics and Chemistry will include mechanics and kinetics, molecules, chemical bonds, chemical calculations and acid-base theory. Examination of cell structure, and the organization of the human body and its organ systems will prepare students for the Human Biology I class.
UG09301_02 Special Topics 3 Cr.
A course whose topics vary from trimester to trimester that stress recent developments in the field of Chemistry or Psychics. Requires supervision by a faculty member.
