These are the images from metal letterpress plates.
Letterpress Printing Plates
15 letterpress metal printing plates were found in the Archives. All are roughly 2 in x 2 in. 14 were in a small envelopes marked "Electrotype From National Engraving Co. 154 Nassau Street New York City." The envelopes were addressed to "Dr. R H Fleshman 5956A Easton Av St Louis MO." The 1940 3 cents "Torch of Enlightenment," from the National Defense Series was used for postage on each envelope.
Questons we are seeking answers for include: When were these printing plates first created? How were they marketed and sold? Are there other printing plates by National Engraving Co. for Chiropractors? Are there other printing plates for Chiropractors by other engraving companies? Did a Chiropractor assist National Engraving Co. in the creation of these plates? How were these printing plates used? Can we find the accompanying paper or saying for 5 of the printing plates?
After scanning the positive images of the printing plates, Adobe's Photoshop was used to enhance and to clean the images.
